Meet the Band
Musical Director - Mr Richard Banks

Richard's musical career started when he joined the RAF Fighter Command Band in 1961; in the same year joining his hometown band of St. Albans City playing the cornet.
He joined Enfield as their resident conductor in 2010
Principal Cornet - Steve Gaskell
Steve has been playing since the age of 7 and has been principal cornet with the band for over 10 years.
Solo Cornet - Lucy Jackson
Lucy is originally from the West Country and has been in the band since she moved to London in 2008.
Solo Cornet - Jen Bowden
Jen is originally from County Durham. She started playing cornet in secondary school because it sounded better than the violin.
2nd Cornet - Will Sandilands
Will has been playing for 6 years and joined Enfield 3 years ago.
2nd Cornet - Connie Natrass
Connie grew up playing the trumpet and first discovered the wonderful world of brass banding while at university in York where she played cornet in the Shepherd Group Brass Band (formally the Rowntree factory band).
3rd Cornet - Scott Collier
Scott is the band Chairman and by far the most interesting character within a pretty dull bunch. His high opinion of himself is not matched by his ability on the cornet.
Soprano Cornet - Chris Wagg
Once described by his Biology Master in a school report as "the Dormouse at the Mad Hatter's tea party - except when standing on stage blowing a piece of coiled up brass tubing." No change there then.
Solo Euphonium - Maurice Bowers
Maurice started learning euphonium and BBb bass at the age of 11 and it seems a never ending task! He says he is still learning today (his words).
Euph / Baritone - Adam Legge
Adam is 43 year old Accountant working for the V&A Museum in London.
Euph / Baritone - Michael Ulliot
Michael is the son of a professional trombone player and arranger but showed absolutely no interest in trombone. He started on euphonium at the age of 11 and was taught by Yorkshire legends Les Lambert and Ted Sutton. They also taught him to smoke non-tipped cigarettes!
2nd Baritone - Steve Ward
Steve has a background in marching bands arranging music and writing shows, he was dragged into the Brass Band world 15 years ago (his words). He has played with various bands and plays regularly with Potters Bar Town Band. He has been with Enfield for the past 10 years.
1st Baritone - Mary Smith
Mary has always lived in Enfield and learned to read music at school.
1st Horn - Sam Rice
Samantha has played tenor horn with Enfield since 2009. Although she now likes brass band music, as a relative newcomer to the world it all seems a bit of a mystery to her sometimes.
2nd Horn - David Barlow
David has been in the band since 2003 and has been Secretary for 5 years.
1st Trombone - Zara Brooks
Zara has been playing in brass bands since joining National Power Brass Band on 3rd cornet at the age of 9
2nd Trombone - Andrew Pimblett
Andrew began his banding career aged 11. He was supposed to learn the cornet but was handed a trombone when his tutor realised his Dad also played trombone and could help teach him to play
Bass Trombone - Alex Gould
Alex is a relatively recent convert to the world of brass banding.
BBb Bass- John Lawrence
John started playing when he was 12 years old in a Boys Brigade band.
BBb Bass - Syd McGowan
Syd joined Enfield Band in 1987 as a Bass player having not played for some years.
Colin Hills - EEb / BBb (dep)
From the age of 15 Colin have played a tuba, mainly Bb bass in the school band where he did his musical grades.
Drums & Percussion - Graham Hart
Graham has been banding for nearly 36 years and loves it. He has played for Welwyn Garden City, St Albans and Stevenage and has been a guest for Watford and Epping Forest. He has contested about 30 times and has accompanied Rod Franks, Roger Webster, and Don Lusher
