Meet the Band
Dan graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music in 2007 with a 1st Class degree and is currently Head of Brass for schools in Islington.
Steve has been playing since the age of 7 and has been principal cornet with the band for over 10 years.
Once described by his Biology Master in a school report as "the Dormouse at the Mad Hatter's tea party - except when standing on stage blowing a piece of coiled up brass tubing." No change there then.
Will has been playing for 6 years and joined Enfield 3 years ago.
Richard has been playing Piano since the age of 4 and started playing trumpet at the age of 8. Richard joined the Enderby Youth Brass Band in Leicestershire in 2004 and had many successful years contesting with the band. He is now our Deputy Conductor.
Scott is the band Chairman and by far the most interesting character within a pretty dull bunch. His high opinion of himself is not matched by his ability on the cornet.
Adam is 43 year old Accountant working for the V&A Museum in London.
Mary has always lived in Enfield and learned to read music at school.
Steve has a background in marching bands arranging music and writing shows, he was dragged into the Brass Band world 15 years ago (his words). He has played with various bands and plays regularly with Potters Bar Town Band. He has been with Enfield for the past 10 years.
Karen started playing cornet in brass bands as a teenager and then moved to flugel and then to tenor horn. She likes to mix this traditional brass music with new and contemporary repertoire and is always willing to try out and experiment with new styles of music and performance.
Samantha has played tenor horn with Enfield since 2009. Although she now likes brass band music, as a relative newcomer to the world it all seems a bit of a mystery to her sometimes.
David has been in the band since 2003 and has been Secretary for 5 years.
Bryan comes from a family of brass band enthusiasts. He joined the band in April 2012 having not played for over 30 years.
Zara has been playing in brass bands since joining National Power Brass Band on 3rd cornet at the age of 9
Alex is a relatively recent convert to the world of brass banding.
John started playing when he was 12 years old in a Boys Brigade band.
Syd joined Enfield Band in 1987 as a Bass player having not played for some years.
Born and raised in Sale, Cheshire. His interest in music led to starting on trumpet in 1998. 2001 saw a switch to Cornet before transferring to Euphonium at the start of 2002. He is now giving the BBb a go!
Laura has been playing the tuba for over 10 years, but has recently started playing again after a four year break. She previously played with Bollington brass band and then several orchestras and wind bands at university. Laura is a regular solosit for the band.
Laura enjoys pub quizzes, and once appeared on the Weakest Link (coming fourth)!
Graham has been banding for nearly 36 years and loves it. He has played for Welwyn Garden City, St Albans and Stevenage and has been a guest for Watford and Epping Forest. He has contested about 30 times and has accompanied Rod Franks, Roger Webster, and Don Lusher
