Musical Director - Mr Richard Banks

Richard's musical career started when he joined the RAF Fighter Command Band in 1961; in the same year joining his hometown band of St. Albans City playing the cornet.
He joined Enfield as their resident conductor in 2010

On leaving the RAF in 1964 he moved to the Midlands and played with Championship Section Band – Pleasley Colliery. On moving back to St. Albans in 1965 her re-joined the City band on Solo Horn staying until 1972 when he moved to Championship Section Band, Hemel Hempstead.
During his time here he enjoyed a period of regular live broadcasts and recordings at the BBC Golders Green Studios which included Friday Night is Music Night and Radio 3 Bandstand Programmes. He left in 1984 due to business commitments.
He started his conducting career with Stonesfield Silver Band in 1987 where he stayed for 4 years gaining promotion from the 4th to 2ndSection and qualifying for the 4th and 3rd Section National Finals and two Pontins Finals.
From 1991 – 1997 he guest conducted many bands in Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire before returning again to St. Albans City playing both Solo cornet and Solo Horn. On moving to Bishops Stortford in 2006 he retired from playing, so he thought, before being asked to join Ware Brass where he played regularly for 2 years and now deps when required.
