Bass Trombone - Alex Gould

Alex  is a relatively recent convert to the world of brass banding.

Originally a woodwind player he played oboe with the Welsh National Symphony Orchestra while at University, and became an enthusiastic tenor sax player in a variety of wind, jazz and swing bands.

A few years ago while encouraging his daughter to take up a musical instrument he said that if I could have had his time all over again he would have taken up a brass instrument. It then occurred to him that he could have his time all over again, so he took up the trombone and he has been thoroughly enjoying it ever since.

The bass trombone in particular seems to suit his temperament. He especially likes being able to thump out counter-melodies and the all important bass line.

He now plays bass trombone with Enfield Brass Band, and also at Potters Bar Town Band and Fleetville Community Swing Band
