Meet the Band

BBb Bass - Syd McGowan

Syd joined Enfield Band in 1987 as a Bass player having not played for some years.

My schoolboy son who had taken up the cornet and wanted me to join him in the band encouraged me. We were both made very welcome and I found it great to be banding again.

Shortly after joining I was elected Equipment Officer which may have been a subtle way of the Band encouraging me to leave having heard my playing. I didn't take the hint and I am still on BBb Bass and, needless to say, still Equipment Officer
